Broken link monitoring for agencies and freelancers
The job is a short list of client hosts, each verified, each with its own baseline. Mortise is not a client portal and it is not an SEO suite.
No card required. 1 site and 200 pages on the free plan.
One slot per host you control
Add the client’s public homepage only if you are allowed to crawl it. Verification is per site: a file, a meta tag, or DNS TXT. You cannot start a crawl until that check passes. www and the apex domain count as the same site, so they do not burn two slots.
Free is 1 site and 200 pages per crawl. Pro is 10 sites and 2000 pages per crawl, at $12/month or $79/year.
What you hand a client
The dashboard is yours, under your login. Clients do not get seats. When a contract ends, delete that site to stop crawls and drop its history. Pro CSV export is a practical handoff: URL, source page, classification, and status.
Schedules are per site, daily or weekly on Pro. A noisy legacy 404 on one client stays out of the new-break alerts for the others.
A practical setup
Verify, run the baseline, and tell the client the first crawl will not produce alerts. On the next crawl, New breaks are the regressions. If you need content-change alerts rather than link status, that is a different tool.
Questions
Can each client log in?
No. One Mortise account holds the sites you add. Share exports or screenshots if a client needs the list.
What if I manage more than 10 sites?
Pro stops at 10 verified sites. Remove a finished client before adding another. There is no higher self-serve plan.
Do I get alerted about old client 404s?
They can appear on the broken list after two crawls. They do not become new-break alerts if they were already broken on the baseline.
